What is your earliest memory of music? And, how did you get started in music? The earliest memory of have of music is I used to sing all the time and make up songs when I was 5 annoying my brother. I thought it was funny. I began seriously studying voice when I was 17. I waited until my voice didn't have to change anymore to handle the vocal maturation of the muscles and voice. From there it was seen that I had a real talent for classical music. I sang in church choirs and led them and that blossomed into me getting deeper understanding of music.
What was the first song you ever wrote? What or who inspired you to start writing music?
The first song I wrote was actually in 2015 that was a duet between me and a group I formed called the Heavenly Angels but it didn't get off the ground. It was called "Uncertainty" Do you play any instruments? If yes tell us about it. If not, do you work with a band or studio musicians? Do you produce your tracks or work with a producer? I am starting to learn to play the drums. That is my favorite instrument. I work with my producer, Bill Williams who is a musician of my instruments and a great gift at arranging music. I am looking forward to working with a band and a DJ together to create a live comprehensive EDM concert. What is your favorite part about being an artist (performing, recording, writing, playing)?
My favorite part about being an artist is I can be me no matter what. In the music industry, I don't need to impress anyone, I don't need to hold my tongue because I will be scrutinized by what I say; I can say what I please and I can advocate for what I believe in with any agent or manager telling me otherwise. As an indie artist, I can create what I want and I can sing it the way I want and I have control over what I make. I love that. Do you have any advice for young women pursuing music?
Don't give up and know who you are before you get started. Do searching to know what your limits are, what your unbreakables are and how far you will and will not go. You must know yourself and what you are worth or you will believe anything and let anyone walk all over you. Believe in and love you. For readers who have never heard your music, can you suggest one or two songs to start with?
I have released only two songs, so far, "Why Can't You?" and "Systematic". To get a feel for my genre I would start there. My genre is Electronica Hip Hopera.
What do you feel your strengths are as an artist?
My strengths as an artist is that I use my will to do good for the world in the best capacity I can. I walk to my own tune and my own beat.
